What is the role that software can play in human connection? Is there a role for software to play at all? We believe the answer is yes.
Bloom Community is the social app for sex-positive and edge-of-culture communities that helps you meet people organically through shared events. We collaborate with local organizers and event producers to curate the best events calendar for boundary-expanding events. Our app allows you to create a profile, see suggested people, 💜 people you want to meet, and become Buds when the interest is mutual.
Bloom is a queer woman-led company that takes a values-driven approach to social software. Bloom exists to help people build meaningful relationships and strengthen community in a growing number of cities. Our vision is to share consent culture and create a world in which all people feel safety and belonging.
In 2021, Bloom started offering event organizers the ability to help their attendees connect before and after their events with our consent-based, mutual-opt in approach. We started in alternative communities at the bleeding edge of Bay Area culture, and soon became the new online home for queer-centered, sex-positive, and connection-forward events and communities. To date, our members have found new best friendships and partners through Bloom, and use Bloom to find out what's going on this weekend and meet people who are going.
Bloom collaborates with local event organizers to help build community around their events. Bloom collaborations have increased event turnout by 2.25x (compared to Facebook RSVPs), and have increased ticket sales by 10-20%.
Bloom's company culture is best described as “chill, with focus.” We look at the trend line over the data points. We believe in life-work balance and we also commit to ambitious goals. We offer feedback generously, self-examine often, and aim to improve ourselves and our processes to achieve as much as we can. We believe in the possibility of change in the world and in ourselves.
At Bloom, we take pride in our diverse community that is 63% LGBTQ+ and 14% trans/nonbinary (with 100+ gender options). In line with our values of consent, communication, and respect, we are committed to making Bloom a safe space for all members. To best serve our community, we strongly encourage applications from BIPOC, LGBTQ+ and gender non-conforming people, women, people with disabilities, and members of other marginalized groups.
