Hiya, and welcome to the circle, at YAAHS!Yarn Art At Happy-hour SocialWe are a bunch of crafty folks who realized that making art is more fun with friends!   In January 2019, yours truly – Anastacia / AVS, invited two friends to meet at a favorite brewery and CROCHET together. We had varying skill levels and interests, one of these stitches even ventured out to KNITTING soon after, but the common thread we shared was CREATIVITY!   We 3 made a commitment to come back every other week, with a skein of yarn (and sometimes a loom, or even painted wood pendants, or watercolors). No matter the art form, a passion for creativity and a desire for community, kept us congregating there.   As the seasons changed, our group expanded further: experienced yarn artists joined in, and shared their knowledge and skills with us. New stitchers were enticed by our colorful crew, and joined the fray.   Everyone had something to contribute, no matter how skilled or novice, every voice is welcome at our table. Projects were flying out, from the confines of imagination, into the world on hooks and needles, and onto the heads, hands and HEARTS of loved ones.   This simple yarn social soon became the most anticipated evening of our month. We’d show up with more than just a crochet or knitting project. Stories of bad relationships, brutal jobs, and mental health challenges, the life struggles that we all share from time to time – were woven into the threads of our conversation. In addition to patterns and yarn, we shared advice, shoulders to cry on, and the occasional life-affirming slice of artisan pizza! YAAHS is so much more than a Yarn (Art At Happy-hour) Social. It’s a community of creatives who stitch together, bitch together, and strengthen each other through art and craft.   Join us in person or online, to learn that crochet can save your life in more than the obvious ways. Whether keeping you warm on a cold day, helping you relax after a stressful situation, or providing the community that gives you strength to pave a NEW way, YAAHS welcomes you, and your own crafty crew! XoxoxoAnastacia / AVS Arbiter of the Yarniverse
